in which: meet jess

Last week, Peanut & I were leaving my house when we ran into this beautiful sheila. She was just standing in the driveway, several feet from the back door. Almost... waiting for us. In the beginning she was very skittish and wouldn't come near us and yet, had this strange attraction to my driveway... she would run off down the street and then turn right back around for my house.

We whistled and called for her, "Come here girl, come on, where'd you come from? Who's that girl? Who's that good girl?" After which, sparked the name Jess, after Zooey Decshanel's character on one of our favorite shows, New Girl. You'll understand if you listen to the theme song.

Anywho, a few hours after finding her (or her finding us), I was able to lure her with some ham. Since then? She's been all over us! She is surprisingly obedient, with knowledge of how to sit, stay, come - even shake hands. She has a collar but no tags, and seemed pretty well cared for (wasn't malnourished, had clean ears & teeth), so she definitely belonged to someone. Yet all our attempts to find the owner have led no where. We've put up signs, an ad in the paper, asked neighbors and people around town, took her to a vet and had her checked for a microchip - which she has, but it's not registered to anyone. Apparently a tech was able to find out that the chip came from a Dog Rescue, however attempts to find record of who adopted her from that Rescue have not been found.

For now, this is what we know.

JESS LOVES:
-people
-other dogs
-playing games
-running
-WATER!!

JESS ISN"T TOO FOND OF:
-baths
-lots of cars in one area
-car rides (yet)
-walking on a leash (yet)
-big stick-like objects (she runs away if you pick one up)

She'd also really observant and very smart - I'm amazed how quickly she adapts and catches onto things. So... do we have a new dog? We shall see very soon. But I hope so!!

look what i found at work!

"Fancy running into you here, Don."

I read most of it on my break and it's quite good. Written by his actual friend, Penny, even. This man is amazing.

in which: tomorrow signifies the end...

...of Blue Like Jazz: The Movie showing in major Texas cities. Not enough viewings I guess. Sad. So if you dwell within the Austin, San Antonio or Houston areas - and you're cool with playing hooky - I suggest you and a friend make it out to a theater my friend!

in which: you didn't know i was working undercover

introducing

Civil Disobedience

 aka

Blue Like Jazz: The Movie

Street Team

As if people didn't already think I was part of a cult... I've joined Civil Disobedience. I perform an array of acts to promote the movie, help spread the word, get people interested. Mostly, this involves talking it up on facebook, word of mouth, handing out flyers, posters, wearing my bad ass Blue Like Jazz t-shirt to work... and my favorite... Covert Ops Missions. For everything I do to promote, I report it on the CD (civil disobedience) website and I receive points. The more points you get... the better the prizes! Grand Prize? An all expense paid trip for two to Nashville to meet Donald Miller (author) & Steve Taylor (director/producer), dinner with them, a tour of sites where the film was shot... YEAH. Other great winners will receive anything from a personal skype call from Don & Steve to autographed books :) ALL VERY EXCITING.

So, obviously, the farther you go to promote the movie, the bigger the points earned. The most points you can earn are 1000 - through completing Covert Ops Missions which are received by email (you have to sign up for them), which are sent out weekly. There is only one mission per week, and once the new mission is sent out, you can no longer earn points for an old mission. Make sense?

Alright.
Now that I've got you up to speed, here is my latest feat:

Starbucks will never know what hit em! My boyfriend was the lookout and photographer, hehe. There was no one really around but I was a tad nervous of any cops spotting us since I have a ticket I haven't paid for yet that I received in that area (oops).

But oh, how I love the thrill!

More to come next week, folks.
Over and out.
